Green Eyed Tiger – Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!

Green Eyed Tiger

I have somehow gathered up quite the collection of Midori and don’t know how this happened. It is not typically a liqueur that I would drink so it must be left over from some distant party memory. So I went on a mad search for a drink that would relieve some of the sweetness that goes along with Midori.

Well tequila is just the ticket and it just happens to be one of my favorite adult beverage choices. The biting peppery flavors of tequila and fresh ginger are soothed by the rich melon flavor of Midori and when combined with zesty lime and fresh orange juice, it gives this cocktail a beautiful round finish. There is an Oriental flavor to the cocktail because of the ginger. Look into the eye of the tiger and finish your week strong!

 Green Eyed Tiger

Ingredients:

1 inch Ginger Knob
1 1/3 oz Silver Tequila
1 oz Midori
2/3 oz Orange Juice
1/3 oz Lime Juice

Directions:

1. Muddle the ginger at the bottom of the shaker can then shake with ice and remaining ingredients.
2. Double strain into a chilled martini glass.
3. Cut several thin slices of ginger as garnish.

Tips:

It is important to use standard ginger in this drink and not young ginger, which will lack that spiciness. The cocktail must have the zing from the ginger to work well.
