White Wine Sangria with Fresh Fruit – Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!

The birds are chirping and the flowers are blooming! It’s time for Springtime cocktails! Unwind on the patio with a light, refreshing glass of Sangria. What’s great about Sangrias are they’re so easy to make and last for days…if you make a big enough pitcher.

Always start melding the fruit and alcohol the night before for the most intense flavor and add the sparkler right before serving. Throw a few marinated shrimp skewers on the grill, add a mixed green salad and feel just how good the weekend is going to be!

Ingredients:

1 pint ripe strawberries, hulled and halved lengthwise
2 oranges, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick rings
2 lemons, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick rings
3 limes, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick rings
3 bottle(s) white wine (dry to semi-dry), such as Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay
1 liter sparkling water
Ice

Directions:

Place all fruit in a large pitcher or bowl, add wine, and allow to sit at room temperature 4 to 24 hours. When ready to serve, add sparkling water and ice. Serve in a bowl with a ladle and make sure there’s fruit in every serving.
