Maple Leaf Cocktail – Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!

Mapleleaf Martini

As we feel the change of the seasons, it’s time to slip into an autumn state of mind. Even in Southern California we can feel the crispness of fall in the air. Rushing home from work on a Friday evening to sit by the pool, sipping a refreshing cocktail, as you fire up the barbeque while the sun still warms your skin is an evening of the past.

Autumn has a different kind of energy; a more relaxed, contented feeling. Sometimes you just want to keep it simple. The Maple Leaf will get you in the mood for fall with a clean, crisp, mellow glow.

3 parts bourbon – Maker’s Mark
1 part maple syrup
1 part lemon juice

Shake over ice and then pour into a chilled martini glass. Serve with a lemon twist. It’s so simple, yet satisfying. Place the glass on a maple leaf “coaster” to help your guests get in the mood.

The great news is that when Friday night cocktail hour is over, you will still be able to serve up a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning with your leftover maple syrup! Cheers!
