As my mother-in-law Jeanne likes to say, “Old Age is not for Sissies!” And she is right! She’s a feisty lady in her mid eighties who’s still having a great time! She is involved in so many activities we practically have to make an appointment to talk with her! Jeanne runs the weekly movie theatre where she lives, still goes to the gym, is always heading up some kind of a committee to help others and is inspiration to all who know her. Age is a state of mind so if the mind and heart are happy, then who cares what the age is. They say “laughter is the best medicine” so why not poke fun at whatever age we are and keep the laughter coming! Continue reading
Brain Hemorrhage – Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!
What’s creepier than a bloody brain? Drinking a bloody brain… Completely disgusting, yet so Halloween appropriate! It’s that time of year when anything goes. The kid, albeit the adult kid, in us comes out. There is no denying this drink feels weird in your mouth but it does taste pretty darn good…once you get past the whole idea of the body organs….if you can! Continue reading

The “Rain in Spain” does not fall mainly in the plain as the song goes. It falls mainly in the northern mountains but on our International Cooking Tour we are going to explore not only the northern region but all the regions of Spain and their fine cuisine. Spain is Europe’s third largest nation and occupies most of the Iberian Peninsula. Bordered by France and Portugal along with its land-bridge location between Europe and Africa, Spain has a long history of invasion and settlement by many different groups resulting in a great mixture of peoples and cultures. Not to mention Spanish conquests in the New World which added to the flavors we now associate with Spain. Let’s taste the history of Spain! Continue reading

German cuisine is famous the world over for its wurst or sausages. There are over two hundred types of wurst. German Bacon Potato Salad
Das ist wunderbar! We have landed in Germany on the International Cooking Tour too late to squeak in a little Oktoberfest fun so we will have to recreate it at home! Germany has been the cradle of European culture from music, literature, theatre and fine arts with the finest musicians and writers like Beethoven, Bach, Goethe, Heine and Schiller. Amazingly Germany does not celebrate any national festivals, and until recently, not even a national day. What it lacks in national festivals, it makes up for in regional festivals. Oktoberfest being the most well known and celebrated around the world! Continue reading
