Some Crab Soup, King Cake and a Hurricane and you have the recipe for a easy Mardi Gras party right at home!
This soup gets its kick from Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasonings. You can order the seasonings on line and check out all of their recipes. The name of “SLAP YA MAMA” came about when the creator of the seasoning jokingly said, “When you use this seasoning, the food tastes so good that it will make you want to go home and slap ya mama because she could never make something taste that great.” The Mardi Gras Café and Market in San Diego has all the Louisiana style food and ingredients you need. If you don’t have time to Slap Ya Mama at home, take her out and show her a good time the New Orleans way at the Mardi Gras Café!
Ingredients:
½ stick butter
½ cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ chopped celery
¼ cup fresh chopped mushrooms
½ chopped bell pepper
¼ cup flour
2 ½ cups milk
1 can of cream-style corn
Slap Ya Mama Original Blend to taste
2 teaspoons of Slap Ya Mama Cajun Pepper Sauce
2 cups of lump crabmeat
¼ cup chopped parsley
Directions:
Melt butter in a large sauce pan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, celery, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Sauté for 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in flour and blend. Slowly add in milk stirring constantly. Reduce heat and stir until mixture slightly thickens then add corn, Slap Ya Mama Pepper Sauce, Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning, and crabmeat and continue to cook for about 6 minutes. Add parsley and serve hot. Serves about 8
