Rosemary Roasted Red Skin Potatoes

Rosemary can be kind of intense. I really enjoy the smell of a Christmas tree or a pine forest but having that smell right at my finger tips was not my favorite smell so I didn’t use rosemary for years. But I do adore my husband and he likes rosemary so I thought I’d venture into the piney wildness and make him something with rosemary in it. Being an Irish girl at heart, the first thing that came to mind was potatoes. Continue reading

Baby Kale Salad with OJ Yogurt Dressing

I really like Kale in most forms. Roasted, shredded in a salad with other greens and cabbage, kale chips, in a soup but sometimes a plain kale salad can taste ans smell a bit like a freshly mowed lawn! If I am going to use kale in a salad alone then I like to use baby kale leaves. They are so tender and the flavor is much more subtle. Continue reading

Heart Shape Salmon en Croute with Dill Sauce

I think I bit off more than I could chew but what I did get my teeth into was very yummy! David and I like to have an intimate Valentine’s dinner at home and I planned a doozy! But I ran out of time trying to be the caterer of all courses gourmet, the flower arranger and table designer, the sommelier and the relaxed, fetching wife! Something had to give! Continue reading

Turtle Dove Brownies

Oh my, oh my! If you want to win your true love’s heart, this is an excellent way to start! We all know that brownies are fantastic on their own but when you marry them with salted caramel, nuts and more chocolate you will be able to ask for just about anything you want from your sweetie. Small bites…don’t get carried away or he will be in a sugar coma and you won’t get what your little heart has been desiring. Continue reading

Ironside Caesar Salad Dressing

If you don’t ask, you won’t receive! My husband and I were in San Francisco for the Christmas holidays and had dinner at Ironside West Coast BBQ in SoMa (South of Market) as soon as we hit the City. One of the many things I love about San Francisco is that you can wander around almost any corner and find a pretty darn good restaurant or even a gem. Ironside was just that. They serve American-style comfort food, the menu is eclectic and the chef has put his own special touch on each dish that makes them a standout. My Caesar Salad was the best ever! I asked the waiter if the chef would share his recipe for the dressing and sure enough, I got it! Score!! Continue reading

Winter Salad with Cranberries and Spicy Pecans

Harvest Salad
I make this salad a lot during the holidays and on through winter. I will be serving this salad with our Christmas dinner so I made a batch of spicy candied pecans this weekend and stored them in the freezer. Just lay them on the counter an hour before serving so they can defrost. The combination of the spice from the pecans, the sweet tartness from the apples, and the zingy of the gorgonzola with the balsamic dressing is an amazing flavor explosion in your mouth!

Nutcracker Sweet Martini – Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!

Nutcracker Sweet Martini
Although I do not have a huge sweet tooth; I leave that to my husband, the Christmas holidays always make me think of desserts and what luscious creations I could make to celebrate this festive season. The fantasy of baking with Christmas carols playing in the background helps set the stage for the perfect holiday dessert making.
