How very lucky to be women we are and today should not be any different. Friday the 13th may be unlucky for some but not in my house. 13 has always been a lucky number for us and a very good reason to celebrate, especially when it falls on Friday. The color orange is often referred to as the “social” color in feng shui energy and is said to create and promote lively conversations and good times. Change your luck with this fresh and frisky citrus libation!

Roasted Serrano Infused Tequila -An Unexpected Party
An unexpected party broke out when my friend Ann and I tried to recreate a tequila based liqueur that we just love! We poured everything we could think of together to back engineer our little favorite but we just ended up face down on the carpet with a ridiculous mess all over the dining room table. But it sure was fun!

Sgroppino Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!
Happy Birthday Italy!
Italy celebrated the 150th anniversary of its unification yesterday (17 March) but the party continues all week. The Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed on March 17, 1861 after military forces led by national hero Giuseppe Garibaldi conquered the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, which at the time spread from Sicily to Naples. Garibaldi delivered the conquered territory to the King of Piedmont, Savoy and Sardinia, Victor Emanuel II, who then became the first King of Italy.
A Drinking of the Green! Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!
To green or not to green, that is the question. The Irish say drink a great Irish beer and don’t mess with a good thing. But the American twist that adds a frat boy kind of fun to the whole day is to go with the green beer. It’s not complicated but there is a bit of an art to it.
Ginger, Rosemary, Lemon Spritzer Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!
I’ve got Sunshine on a Cloudy Day as they say in the song. I certainly have an abundance of Meyer Lemons on my tree, the rosemary bush from Christmas that was planted in the garden needs a trim and a knob of ginger left over from the Thai shrimp dinner earlier in the week are all begging for a makeover. The weather is rainy and citrus is so cheerful that I just had to make this lovely cocktail. The concentrate can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week so there is no reason not to have sunshine all weekend!
French Kiss Friday’s 5 o’clock Wet Your Whistle Call!
One name, so many recipes! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and a romantic cocktail is just what we need to get the loving feelings flowing. I found recipes that ranged from a simple half ‘n half of sweet vermouth and dry vermouth chilled and shaken to creamy dessert like drinks or bubbly cosmos to ones that were just plain boring. And boring is not what we want for Valentine’s Day! These two versions felt special yet different from each other. Take your pick or try both but don’t forget, this time it’s OK to French Kiss and tell me which cocktail put you in the mood.
